Popcorn is a modular sofa inspired by the organic shapes of popped corn kernels. Each individual segment can be combined with others to create unique, complex seating configurations that adapt to different spaces and environments.
Design Objective: Create an unconventional, eye-catching piece of modular furniture for St. Petersburg Design Week 2013, designed to attract visitors’ attention, showcase the manufacturer’s capabilities, and stand out as a memorable exhibition centerpiece.
Role: Industrial/Furniture Designer
Scope: Industrial design, CAD, prototyping support.

Design Process
The Popcorn modular sofa went through all the essential stages of product development, from initial sketches and clay models to 3D modeling, prototyping, and final manufacturing. Each stage helped refine its distinctive organic shapes, modular functionality, and production feasibility.

During the last-minute photo and video shoot just before the event, it turned out that the delivery company had lost the other five sofa segments. So we had to shoot the only piece that had arrived. It’s funny now, but back then we were stressed a bit.
