Design Objective: Develop the second generation of the Sonic Dental cleaning device with a sleeker, more refined and distinctive appearance, while evolving the established design language created for the original product and maintaining a consistent brand identity.
Role: Lead Industrial Designer (hands-on)
Scope: Research, design, team coordination, mechanical feasibility, manufacturing support.
The previous generation of this device was also designed by Mick in 2023 and became a bestseller and was shortlisted as a Product of the Year in Dental Industry Award.
- Multi-Frequency Clean (~45–50,000Hz): varies frequency during the cycle to spread cleaning energy more evenly.
- Wireless & portable: 2000 mAh battery; operate on or off the charging base (8–10 cleans per charge).
- Fast cycles: 3-minute Quick (white ring) or 5-minute Deep (blue ring).
- Premium build: insulated temperature control, low-noise design (<55dB), soft-touch finish
